About Us

Picture
Les Écuries Bellisa is owned by Pierre  Lépine, Thérèse Goulet and their daughter, Isabelle. The 80-acre farm includes a  13-stall barn and three buildings for horses kept outdoors. Boarders’ horses have access to a regulation dressage ring, a large fenced paddock, a 60-foot  round pen and turn-out areas.

Our Philosophy

Picture
Ours is a very small breeding operation located on the outskirts of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Foals bred by Bellisa  Sporthorses are registered with the ISR-Oldenburg Registry NA. This means that our foals are inspected and branded the year of their birth.

The Registry's breeding goal to produce modern sport horses competitive with horses from Europe complies with the highest international standards for modern sport horse breeding. The Registry is not a branch of a European breed organization but has adopted the successful breeding philosophy and politics of the German Oldenburg Sport Horse. Inspections are conducted by judges from Germany and North American-bred horses are judged by an independent sport horse breed organization that works on the basis of 200 years of European experience.

This provides us, the breeders, with feedback on the quality of our breeding program. Buyers, on the other hand, gain clear insight into the quality of the product offered to them.

Our Mission

Our mission is to breed horses with good movement, correct conformation and clear character for the amateur hunter, jumper and dressage rider. To this end, quality broodmares are bred to stallions of outstanding temperament and athletic ability.
